The forecast was so good to today wall to wall sunshine with a southerly 15 to 20 breeze but as usual in reality it didn’t live up to the billing:( The day started off very light but eleven the wind started to fill-in a little so when I saw that Andrew Mexome arrived at The Dip I hitched the trailer and headed down. Sadly, the wind was very light so we had a nice chat, mainly about how easy foiling looked but how hard it is when out on the water! Then the rain arrived and what little wind there was went so we left. After lunch at home I got another WhatsApp message saying that Andrew was still in Felixstowe and the wind was 18 knots so with the trailer still on the van I headed back down. The wind was gusting to a good 20 knots but the tide was high so not really the best time to windsurf but beggars can’t be choosers so we both rigged 7m and went out on 115 lt. boards. It was OK to start with but after a few runs up to a mile and half out it became patchy so I switched to the bigger 133 lt. Xantos and got my fastest speed. Sadly, the sea was horrendous lumpy mess, Felixstowe can really be a crap place to sail especially at high water, not one of my favourite venues and I live here! Still we had an hour or so on the water which is still definitely on the chilly side and I think the winter suit will be coming back out of the garage! More wind forecast for tomorrow from the south, so fingers crossed for my 9th session for the month, a few options The Dip in the morning to make the most of low water or if raining or light then perhaps a river sail on the Orwell or Stour in the afternoon, who knows, will see what tomorrow brings????
